Isolating Powersystems

Problems with the electrical network in older hospitals may occur when a new MRI or CT scanner system is installed. In most cases this results in an error of the first degree when it comes to impedance (leakage current) protection.

Standards
The applicable standard involved in these situations is the standard EN-IEC60610-1-1. This standard describes the maximum allowed leakage currents in medical examination rooms, surgery rooms or likewise rooms used for medical application.

Solution
By offering an isolating power supply to the hospital for these specific situations, Wesemann can solve these issues. This isolating power supply connected on the primary side to the mains of the hospital and on the secondary side the medical application like the scanner system solves the problem by applying a galvanic isolation. The operation of the scanner is again according the applicable standards.
